পবিত্র রমজান মাসে অতি প্রয়োজনীয় ১১টি খাদ্যপণ্য আমদানিতে বিলম্বে বিল পরিশোধের অনুমতি দিয়েছে বাংলাদেশ ব্যাংক। পণ্যগুলো হলো—চাল, গম, পেঁয়াজ, ডাল, ভোজ্যতেল, চিনি, ডিম, ছোলা, মটর, মসলা ও খেজুর। এসব পণ্য ৯০ দিনের সাপ্লায়ার্স বা বায়ার্স ক্রেডিটের আওতায় আমদানি করা যাবে।
সোমবার (১১ নভেম্বর) বাংলাদেশ ব্যাংক এক বিজ্ঞপ্তিতে এ তথ্য জানিয়েছে।
কেন্দ্রীয় ব্যাংক বলছে, আমদানি করার ক্ষেত্রে লেনদেন সহজ করতে এই সিদ্ধান্ত নেওয়া হয়েছে এবং আগামী বছরের ৩১ মার্চ পর্যন্ত এ সুবিধা প্রযোজ্য হবে। এই সিদ্ধান্ত আমদানিকারকদের এসব পণ্য আমদানিতে সহায়তা করবে। কারণ, রমজানের আগে এসব পণ্যের চাহিদা বাড়ে।
এর আগে ৬ নভেম্বর পণ্য আমদানির ক্ষেত্রে আগের ১০০ শতাংশ মার্জিন বা জামানতের মূল্য রাখার নির্দেশ শিথিল করে প্রজ্ঞাপন জারি করে বাংলাদেশ ব্যাংক। এখন সেই মার্জিন নির্ধারণ হবে গ্রাহক-ব্যাংক সম্পর্কের ভিত্তিতে।
প্রজ্ঞাপনে বলা হয়, পবিত্র রমজান মাস উপলক্ষে ভোগ্যপণ্যের চাহিদা বৃদ্ধির বিষয়টি বিবেচনায় এই পণ্যগুলোর আমদানি সহজ করার মাধ্যমে মূল্য সহনীয় পর্যায়ে রাখাসহ প্রয়োজনীয় সরবরাহ নিশ্চিত করতে চাল, গম, পেঁয়াজ, ডাল, ভোজ্যতেল, চিনি, ডিম, ছোলা, মটর, মসলা ও খেজুরের আমদানি ঋণপত্র স্থাপনের ক্ষেত্রে সংরক্ষিতব্য নগদ মার্জিনের হার ব্যাংকার-গ্রাহক সম্পর্কের ভিত্তিতে ন্যূনতম পর্যায়ে রাখার জন্য নির্দেশনা দেওয়া হলো।
বাংলাদেশ ব্যাংক বলেছে, অভ্যন্তরীণ বাজারে উল্লিখিত পণ্যগুলোর সরবরাহ নিশ্চিত করতে আমদানি ঋণপত্র স্থাপনে অগ্রাধিকার দিতে পরামর্শ দেওয়া হলো। এই নির্দেশনা ২০২৫ সালের ৩১ মার্চ পর্যন্ত বলবৎ থাকবে।
খাত সংশ্লিষ্টদের মতে, এলসি মার্জিন শিথিল করায় আমদানিকারকদের নগদ টাকা কম লাগবে। এতে আমদানি খরচও কম হবে। ফলে বাজারে এসব পণ্যের দাম কিছুটা কমার কথা।
