প্রিয়জন ডেস্কঃ ঐতিহ্যবাহী রাজশাহী প্রেসক্লাবের উদ্যোগে ইংরেজী বর্ষবরণে অনুষ্ঠানে প্রধান অতিথির বক্তব্যে রাজশাহী মহানগর বিএনপির সিনিয়র যুগ্ম আহ্বায়ক নজরুল হুদা বলেন, মুক্ত ও স্বাধীন গণমাধ্যম গণতন্ত্রের জন্য অপরিহার্য। এর মাধ্যমে নাগরিকরা অর্থনৈতিক উন্নয়নের তথ্য জানার পাশাপাশি তাদের নেতাদের জবাবদিহি নিশ্চিতের জন্য প্রয়োজনীয় তথ্য জানাতে পারেন। শেখ হাসিনার শাসনামলে গণমাধ্যমের স্বাধীনতা যেভাবে সংকুচিত হয়েছিল, তা ব্যাখ্যাতীত। আইন দিয়ে চাপে রাখা ছাড়াও ক্ষমতাচর্চা, ব্যবসায়িক ও রাজনৈতিক স্বার্থের কারণে গণমাধ্যম যথাযথ ভূমিকা পালন করতে পারেনি। আবার কিছু সংবাদমাধ্যম ও সংবাদকর্মীকে সরকারের রোষানলেও পড়তে হয়েছে। বন্ধ করে দেয়া হয় দিগন্ত টিভি, আমার দেশসহ আরও গণমাধ্যম। বিএনপি গণমাধ্যম বান্ধব একটি রাজনৈতিক দল। তাই গণমাধ্যমের উন্নয়নে সার্বিক সহযোগীতার জন্য বিএনপি যথেষ্ট আন্তরিক।
